Alan's Sarcoid Story

Feb 1, 2016

I started to get sick in 1997, but had no idea what was going on and went through a lot of testing and various diagnosis until late 1999 when I could no longer breath on my own and had to go on oxygen 24x7 to stay alive.

My respirologist daignosed Sarcoidosis, by taking 10 lung biopsies and having the samples tested.

Since then the sarcoid has done the full tour, kidneys, liver, diagestive system, eyes, brain and heart. Fortuanately, the doctors were aware of the disease and were keeping up regular monitoring. As a result each part of my body that shows syptoms is dealt with before things get to far out-of-control.

The worst so far has been heart surgery to stop progression in my heart. All of the rest have been dealt with by using various drugs and very regular monitoring.
