MY CHRONIC FATIGUE/ME JOURNEY OF TESSA LIVESEY-GOLDBLATT

May 18, 2016

I have always been a sickly person since a baby. In my early years I had lung problems and then from my teenage years into my mid twenties I suffered from Glandular Fever on numerous occasions.

I led a pretty busy life working as a secretary as I have a Secretarial Certificate and with children as I have a Residential Child Care Certificate. With God’s strength I obtained a Diploma in Theology in 2004. I was also very involved in voluntary work with the Girl Guide Association, Church activities and Animal Shelter.

I was diagnosed with CFIDS/ME/Yuppie Flu in 2004 by Dr N. Petrovic who treated me with antioxidants and micronutrients and afterwards by Dr Cherice Baker (homeopath) but unfortunately due to finances stopped my treatment with both of them. Dr Petrovic did give me back 50% of my life.

I did very well until 2008 but I have gone down very slowly with having had various operations and today it is my back as well as ME/CFS that has brought me down to where I am limited to be able to things but I am still able to go the shops, go out with friends for coffee or visit, visit family but only for a short time as I get very exhausted and therefore need the next day to regain my strength or if I go out I need rest the day before and having a low immune system I pick up illnesses easily. It is difficult to plan things as you never know how you will feel and I find that I don’t have many friends due to this but I do miss my social life. I rest in bed a lot but I don’t allow it to hinder me so I do things from my bed eg make rose ribbons, reindeers, read, play games, administrate websites, write, etc.

I am so grateful to have the support of my mom who helps me tremendously.  I also have the support of my family, cyber or a few physical friends, general practioner, physiotherapist and psychologist who help me to deal with my illness etc but most of all I thank God as HE gives me the strength each day to cope.
