I was first diagnosed because I kept blacking out multiple times a day. My blood pressure would drop to extremely low levels. A cardiologist tested my blood for cortisol levels and sent me to an endocrinologist who diagnosed me with secondary adrenal insuficiency. We think I got it from taking asthma steroids for years as a child and then stopping them as my asthma improved. I have had three endocrinologists. One passed away. The other was a jerk and I love my current one. I have had horrific ER experiences and now know which ERs and hospitals I need to go to. Stress can trigger a crisis for me so I have to be careful with that. I joined Adrenal Insufficiency United and highly recommend that group to others.
