How did all start?

Started in 2000 with pneumonia pleurisy

Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?

2000 diagnosed with brittle asthma. Then 2018 aspergillosis.

For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?

See8ng group of doctors at hospital now who are continuing with tests and monitoring condition. On steroids and inhalers. Flixonase nose drops been great got sense of smell back.

What has been the most useful thing for you so far?

Purchased a HEPA purifier vast improvement in sleep pattern only had this a week results amazing.

What have been your biggest difficulties?

Sport and work trying to maintain health to continue doing what I enjoy.

How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?

Yes as sometimes so tired just want to stay in home and chill, although I known socilaising is important but if coughing and wheezing it can be difficult and avoiding alcohol is very advisable too.

What things have you stopped doing?

Nothing I try and maintain my usual activities.

What do you think about the future?

Worry that this will get worse.

So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?

Best years were when I didn’t have asthma very fit racing cyclist for 10 years. Trained and raced 6 days a week was very fit.

What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?

Cycle, and have more energy to do things.

If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?

Ups n downs although very exciting with lots of goals achieved.

Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?

Stick in and don’t agree with all that the doctors say you know your own body better than anyone although doctors are valuable and try and get the best one I was fortunate with new consultant this year who started again and found I had aspergillosis. Ask lots of questions keeping a log of your feelings and ask for blood test and allergy tests for aspergillosis.
