My Behcets

Well I got my first symptoms 8 years ago, a few months after my last child was born and a week after a traumatic tooth extraction, I once found a site which linked dental work with the onset of Behcets, but have never been able to find it again or anything else that has ever linked dental work with onset. I woke up one weekend with ulcers in my mouth and on my vagina, went to the weekend duty doctor who tested me for herpes, I didn't have herpes! I googled my symptoms and the only thing that matched was Behcets. 

I kept getting ulcers, and plenty of them. My GP sent me to the hospital specialists, who knew nothing about Behcets and kept just saying I might have herpes, all blood tests came back negative for herpes, the ulcers were swabbed and came back negative also, but he just kept saying it must be herpes, I believe only because the doctor couldn't admit that he knew nothing about Behcets.

I got flare ups just before my period was due, they would come up for a week and take 2 weeks to heal, then I would get a few days without ulcers and they would start again with my menstrual cycle. Then I had a bad flare, I had huge ulcers on my tongue, mouth, throat, uvular, lips, vagina, there were too many to count and I also had aching ankles, knees and hips. I couldn't eat for nearly a month, couldn't talk couldn't drink water, my mouth ulcers were too painful, all I could manage was to sip on aspro or disprin. I went to my GP in tears, hungry, thirsty, tired and so very sore, he instantly gave me prednisone and called a private immunologist for me. I went to see the specialist, by the time I went to him I had ulners on my shins and was having joint pain in various places. He instantly diagnosed me with Behcets, I already knew that I had it, nothing else had the exact same symptoms.

I seen my immunologist for a few years, but can no longer afford to see him, but he got me on the right meds to keep this horrid disease to a minimum. My GP has some knowledge about Behcets and has another patient with it also. I currently take lots of meds and have painkillers also. My current symptoms are occasional ulcers, joint pain, skin sores, unexplainable pain anywhere in my body, back pain, severe head aches, lethagy, etc.

I had a hysterectomy to stop the hormonal cycles, which helped greatly.

Just recently my 8yr old daughter has started having ulcers and lethagy, I have 4 children and she is the only one with any symptoms.
