In 2013 I fainted at work for no apparent reason. I ended up having a CT scan because of a headache I had post fall. The CT showed no sign of a concussion but did show a possible ctoma formation with bone erosion and acute on chronic mastoiditis. I had surgery a few months later with 2 additional surgeries 1 and 2 years after that for a second look and reconstruction and then when the ossicular reconstruction collapsed I had a surgery to redo it. In December 2016 my ear had one episode of a foul discharge and I had symptoms of pulsitile tinnitus, etd, dizziness, headache and hearing loss. Another CT can suggested a possible recurrent Ctoma with acute in chronic mastoiditis again. I had surgery Jan 2017 for a modified mastoidectomy and a large ctoma was found displacing my reconstruction and was wrapped around my facial nerve. I lost the last of my hearing bones and got a new reconstruction with a prosthesis to help with hearing. I had had issues with pain and a clear yellow discharge since the surgery but have hope that it will eventually resolve. The surgeon is already talking about a second look 6-12 mths down the road but after a horrible recovery I'm thinking I had better see a ctoma waving from the images of a ct or mri before I agree to go through that hell again.
