Story about Endometriosis .

A Endometriosis story

Dec 13, 2015

I've always had very painful periods and heavy periods. I thought it was normal. I've also been struggling with infertilit for 2 1/2 years. I had a chemical pregnancy in sept 2013. I had an internal ultrasound. They found one cyst on my right ovary and 1 fibroid behind my uterus. My Dr. Watched the cyst for 6 mths. It never resolved so she came me the option of having a laparoscopy to remove the cyst. I went in for that May 2014.  She found severe endometriosis all through me. She performed an ablation and removed the cyst which was an endometrioma cyst.  She didn't remove the fibroid. I had adhesions all through me. She performed a chromopertubation showing my tubes are clear.

Well still no baby and I did some research and found an excision specialist in Hershey,PA- Dr. Harkins. I emailed him and told him my story. He called me the next day and we set up my second surgery. My surgery was July 2015.  This surgery ended up being 4 hours. He found stage 4 endometriosis and diaphragmatic endometriosis. He also found another endometrioma cyst on my right ovary. He removed it and he removed the fibroid behind my uterus which was 6x6 cm and another fibroid on the front of my uterus. Endo was all over my insides and abdominal cavity and bladder and colon. My right Fallopian tube and ovary were fused to my abdominal wall and my right ovary was tucked up within itself. The endo was eroding my bladder. My peritoneum was so inflamed you couldn't even see my reproductive organs. He excised what he could and performed a chromopertubation which showed my tubes are clear.  He used the DaVinci robot for this surgery. He couldn't believe how bad it was. He told me it's very aggressive and that wouldn't be my last surgery. It's been almost 5 mths since my surgery and still no baby. :( but I'm so happy I found Dr. Harkins. He is a wonderful dr that specializes in endometriosis! I highly recommended all endometriosis sufferers find an excision specialists!
