Story about Endometriosis .

Dec 25, 2015

in 2008, I started having severe issues with, not only my period, but throughout my entire cycle. I struggled with doctors taking me seriously, and as one doctor put it "I'm a teenager, all teenagers are sleeping around and catching diseases" (oh the horror on his face when he saw I was a virgin from my Pap smear!!) I finally had a doctor take me seriously though in 2009, and recommended a laporoscopy. He was determined I had endometriosis. But low and behold he didn't find any (as he thought) He found severe scar tissue all over my pelvic region though and many cysts on my ovaries. After 2011 though, I moved to CT from Virginia with my now husband, and the search for a new doctor was on. I ended up in the emergency department far too many times, before finding a OB-GYN on call that actually listened to me. Before I found him, I was red flagged at the ED as a drug addict. Finally, after making an appt with him, I ended up telling him my husband and I were trying to conceive for over a year with no avail. I was on 6 months of Clomid, where he decided I should try Lupron Depo to try to "restart" my reproductive system. I was in that for 4 months, and lost my insurance after I was married. After a move to OK and back to VA, I went to my old doctors office (new staff though) and was told all my issues were normal. NORMAL! I laughed!! Not even 5 days later I was at the new hope center, where they found scar tissue, polyps and fibriods on an ultrasound. I was scheduled for surgery 2 weeks later, where they found stage one endo, small patches of it, but scattered, and found from a review of my surgical video, that I did have endo in 2009, but the patches were small that a normal gyn that doesn't have experience with it would miss. I'm 3 weeks post op currently, on BC until officially healed and hubby is tested to keep endo, cysts, polyps and fibroids at bay.
