When I was a junior in high school, I got really sick. I was experiencing intense stomach pains, vomitting 3-4 times a day, dry heaving, loosing sleep, weight loss, weight gain, and loss of apetite. Most days I would just eat 3 pieces of bread. I was constantly in bed, getting tests run, or in the ER. I missed so much school that they put me on homestudy. Almost every day I was either in bed, or at the doctor's office. My doctor diagnosed me with a dysfunctioning gallbladder and operated within the week. However, the surgery did not stop my symptoms. It wasn't until halfway through my senior year, after a year and a half of being sick, that I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis. Since the diagnosis, life has become a little easier. I've learned what foods upset my stomach the most, and how to keep food down. I've learned when I start feeling even a tiny bit nauseous, to keep close to a bathroom. My little brother also has had gastroparesis ever since he was a baby. It's kinda funny because the condition is not genetic or contagious, and he's not biologically related to me! I am very familiar about this condition and I actually get a kick out of talking about it. I have had Gastroparesis for over 2 years now. I am 18 years old and on my 2nd semester of college as a freshman.
