Gypsy's interview
How did all start?
Had a pain in my wrist that just wouldn’t go away. When we first went to the doc he just told me I was a kid who fell down and hurt myself.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I would say it would’ve taken us about a year to get a diagnosis. We demanded to get sent to an out of town specialist, we had already seen 2 in town and they both said I was a kid who hurt myself. Within 10 min meeting the out of town specialist he knew exactly what I had.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I went through 3 surgeries and they helped me live a normalish life.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Being cautious, we are a very active family, but I have to be cautious that I don’t do something that well cause me to break it, or cause me extreme pain or discomfort.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Nothing changed
What things have you stopped doing?
I haven’t really stopped anything, I do things with caution and try to limit the amount of pain I put myself through, but I don’t stop doing things.
What do you think about the future?
I wonder if my kids or grandkids will have this and how it will affect them.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
Guess my adult years, settling down and having a family.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Never thought about it before.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Busy, chaotic, awesome!
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Find the right doc! If you feel something isn’t right demand a second, or third, or fourth opinion. Drive to another city if it means angers!
