Misty's interview
How did all start?
I started getting sick around coffe beans, candles, B &B Works Products, all household cleaning products, perfumes, different chemicals in carpets/furniture, you name it, Hives, tingling lips, headaches, fatigue, weight gain to name a few.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
No DX, one DR says I have a sensitivity due to fibromyalgia.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
Lupus
RA
Fibromyalgia
Sjogrens
Raynauds
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
I try as much as I can to stay away from products that irritate me.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Work, it hard because no one understands what I go through.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Most family understands, some work understands.
What things have you stopped doing?
I avoid at all cost chemicals, hired a lady to clean my bathrooms, with little to none chemical products. Have air purifiers at work to hel but I can see me quitting if it doesn’t get better.
What do you think about the future?
I don’t know. I need help because this is very hard to deal with.
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
The beast is when I’m at the beach and don’t have to deal with this.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Breathe - not have reactions that harm my body.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
Hard but I’m getting through it.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Be your own advocate.
