What exactly do you mean by this? Do you mean 'physically'? and if so, can you describe it better?

Hi Lindy, Not 'physically'...pyschically. What I am asking is, regarding someone who has had paranormal 'experiences', such as seeing a 'ghost' or anything along those lines. I know a lot of people do not believe, and that's ok. I have had many paranormal experiences going back to when I was a little kid. I have always talked and walked in my sleep. I also have spoken while in my sleep in a voice different than my own; not greatly different, just with different inflections, and spoke to my husband very nasty, calling him a name I never knew he didn't like being called as a child. We have it recorded or I may not have believed him. I was diagnosed with narcolepsy in 2013 and it seems to have increased in severity over the last year, meaning that even with medication (Nuvigil and Ritalin) I only have about 3 'good' hours in the morning before my energy drains away and I feel horrible and can't accomplish anything for the rest of the day. I'd like to ask if there are other people who may also have had paranormal experiences and were later diagnosed with narcolepsy, to see if maybe there is something similar in the way our brains work.

Thanks for reading.

Hi Christine,

I have also recently been a very "aggressive" sleeper, swearing at my (wonderful, loving) partner in my sleep and I have even punched/elbowed him several times when sort of hallucinating/awake/asleep (hard to describe, I simply did not realize it was him I was hitting).  I do also carry conversations/babblings in my sleep. And I was raised in a very spiritually aware household and have been known to "know" things without precious knowledge before/see things as a kid.

Hi Sarah, have you been diagnosed with any sort of sleep disorder? Being diagnosed with narcolepsy, one of the 1st things you are told is that hallucinations are part of the deal. And a lot of the hallucinations people with narcolepsy are said to have are very similar to descriptions of paranormal experiences. But most of the paranormal type experiences I've had are not like frightening ones I've heard of people having. My thought is this....we've all heard how young children sometimes experience or see things that we as adults have "learned" aren't really there. Children have "invisible" friends, or may describe some things that, try as you may, you simply can't see or hear. People with narcolepsy are said to not produce a chemical in their brains that controls the sleep/wake cycles. Babies and young children are not able to control their sleep cycle either. Perhaps this chemical has not yet been produced in the brains of these infants and young children, which allows this "sight" of the paranormal. Once the brain has developed and is producing the chemical, our ability to "see" is diminished or stopped altogether. Not sure if this sounds like I'm grasping at straws but I feel very strongly that not everything I'm experiencing is a hallucination.
