Story about Osteogenesis Imperfecta .

type I OI

Apr 25, 2017

I was born with type I osteogenesis imperfecta and had over a dozen fractures in the first eight years of my life and two fractures in my teens. Now I am in my forties and haven't had a fracture in over twenty years. I have severe to profound bilateral hearing loss. I use one bone anchored and one behind the ear hearing aid. I also have an FM system for communication and I am starting to learn ASL. My height and teeth seem to be normal, but I have blue sclera and I bruise easily. My bone density is low and I am concerned about having more fractures in the future when I am post-menopausal.
