How did all start?
I fell in November 2020 and fractured my femoral head.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I am now diagnosed as Stage II Osteonecrosis of the right hip. It was about 6 months after the initial injury and the pain wasn't getting any better. I was sent for a second MRI and that's when they found out the original fracture had progressed to osteonecrosis.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
Osteonecrosis, Gabapentin, Meloxicam, Ice packs
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Gabapentin and ice packs
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Mobility. And I had to quit my job. I've always been a very active person and so I've gained a lot of weight since this injury and I hate it
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
I'm living with my parents. They are very supportive and we are dedicated to find a way to prevent a hip replacement
What things have you stopped doing?
Jogging, cut back on exercise, had to quit my job and file for disability because I cant stand/walk for more than about 15 minutes before the pain overwhelms me and I have to sit

Its uncertain right now
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
When I was a kid/teenager. I was a really good competitive swimmer and artist
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Exercise. Go back to school for xray tech. Maintain employment
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
It could always be worse.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Take it day by day. Try not to be too hard on yourself. Try not to lose hope. Find a hobby you enjoy that you can do comfortably that doesn't put any stress on the affected joint.
