Story about Phyllodes tumor .

My PT story.

Year Condition Began: 2010

I found a small breast lump, waited a month to see if it went away after a month as I have fibrocystic breast disease and develop cysts periodically. After a month, the lump seemed slightly larger but not fixed so I went to see my PCP who recommended a mammogram and ultrasound. The tumor was missed using mammogram but was seen during the ultrasound m. After a core needle biopsy, the tumor results came back as Phyllodes Tumor. I developed a hematoma from the core needle biopsy and had to wait still I absorbed most of the hematoma prior to having a lumpectomy. Following the lumpectomy my pathology results also confirmed a benign Phyllodes tumor. The lumpectomy occurred about a week or two prior to my graduate comprehensive finals. My Benign PT was on the right side. I now only receive yearly mammogram checks with an occasional magnified mammogram due to scar tissue.
I was the second person diagnosed with this tumor at the hospital but the only person that was doctors followed up with due to the other person’s move to another state.

So far, I’m the only one in my family that was diagnosed with a Phyllodes Tumor.
