How did all start?
I always knew that something was wrong with my chest, but was never told until middle school that I had the condition.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
I was diagnosed at birth but wasn’t told about the condition until middle school.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?
I had the chest reconstruction at the age of 17
What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Developing my own confidence and coming to terms with my condition.
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Confidence!
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
I’ve had a very normal and happy family life
What things have you stopped doing?
I can’t do pull ups or bench press well!
What do you think about the future?
Probably will be weak in the shoulder and may have some spinal issues
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
After high school for sure
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Go to the pool and not worry about what people think!
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
I have a normal and happy life!
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Just know that you’re not alone and that this condition can never prevent us from being happy
