My story begins May 2011 I was in a car accident while on my way to work. I declined going to the ER but decided to follow up for xrays when I started feeling pain in my lower back. While at my visit I mentioned to my doctor that I had also been having issues swallowing. Everytime I would take a medication, or ate anything it would get stuck in my throat. She decided to do a ct of my neck area as well. I work in a hospital so convieniently I went there. While getting scanned I knew something was wrong when I saw their faces after the test. Obviously they couldn't go into details but I recieved a phone call telling me I needed to be admitted asap to the oncology floor. They told me they think I have cancer since the nodules on my lymph nodes measured at 22mm that was closing my throat. They had never seen anything this large on the lymph node and my doctor has been practicing over 40 years. Needles to say I spent 2 weeks there I recieved a medialstinoscopy that confirmed I had sarcoidosis. I honestly thought they made that up since I never heard of such a thing; but today I'm proud to say I am well informed on the disease. I suffer everyday from pain and fatigue and after several chemo medications I'm in remission. Fingers crossed I stay here.
