Hi, my name is Wojciech, and I am wildly optimistic despite being born with spinal muscular atrophy. :-) Everyone always asks why I smile and have such a positive attitude, even though I can't move my body and have so many problems. My answer to that is, smiling makes sense!!!!! Although I was born with SMA and I have never walked on my feet, I have never, even for a moment, abandoned hope that things will change. I'm not bitter, because I believe that every problem has its own solution. When as an infant I was diagnosed with SMA and my parents were told I will never walk, and that children like me don't live past their 4th birthday, they thought this is the end of their world. But, despite a prognosis predicting my demise, I kept on living. I'm 25 years old , I'm happy, and I want more. Since the earliest days I can remember I'm waking up in the morning and making my muscles work. In the morning, at noon, and in the evening, I give it everything I've got.
I have never felt that this is my punishment. I believed that every movement I make, even the ones performed in my mind, bring me closer to my goal of becoming strong and healthy.
And because of all this effort I make, every day I wake up in the morning with a smile on my face and ready to sing. How wonderful to have another fine day. I have a lot of plans and dreams for the future.
First, I would like to continue singing, work on my voice, entertain people, travel the world, meet the love of my life, and complete my college education in my favorite subject (art history). I would love to share my positive energy with others!!!!! I believe I will be successful. :-)
