How did all start?
Diagnosed st age 12. Had CWD surgery at 12 and 13. Lost hearing in left ear.
Do you already have a diagnosis? How long did it take you to get it?
Yes. Unsure of how long since I was 12.
For what medical specialties have you been treated? What has been the most useful specialty for your?

What has been the most useful thing for you so far?
Coping with hearing loss by sitting on left of speaker and using right ear for phone.Balance
What have been your biggest difficulties?
Balance problems. Inability to hear individual voices in a noisy room.
How has your social and family environment reacted? Have your social or family relationships changed?
Family and friends are aware of which side to sit or walk on.
What things have you stopped doing?
Unable to put my head underwater or get water in my ear so I don't swim.
What do you think about the future?
I am in the process of scheduling surgery for a BAHA
So far, which years have been the best years in your life? What have you done during them?
Most of my life has been good.i grew up, completed a degree, became and still work as a nurse. I have done community theatre, travelled and ridden horses. I own a home and am in a happy relationship.
What would you like to do if you didn’t have your condition?
Be more coordinated with no balance problems.
If you had to describe your life in a sentence, what would it be?
A full life with ups and downs but mostly good.
Finally, what advice would you give to a person in a similar situation?
Keep up with seeing an ENT but look for a new one if you are not happy with yours.
