In was at work in the restaurant I loved working at. The kitchen staff took up the mats an hour early, and I had to walk thru the kitchen. Needless to say, they hadn't cleaned the floors, so even with no-slip shoes on, I slipped and was thankfully the cook caught me before I hit the floor, but not before my knee twisted painfully. This was April 20th 2000. On June 28th, I worked my last day, because my bone and joint disease specialist dr said something was wrong. In July, I finally saw a dr who.did surgery to fix my acl, and I woke from surgery with an extremely cold knee. They were applying h eat, but it didn't help. One week later, was the first time I heard RSD. I was sent to or, and had the best therapist ever, who explained RSD to me, becuase he also believed i had it. After seeing 19 drs the first 4 yrs, i knew what did and didn't work for me. Nothing. I had had every shot, block and bueno g done to my nerves and wanted no more of it. I couldn't get a dr to treat my RSD after we.moved and my original dr.died suddenly. I finally found an OD who was willing to try meds instead of hurting me more. The real breakthrough, was.meeting a dr at a support group meeting. He changed my life, until.he decided that meth was more important than his patients. I now have a wonderful pain management dr, and pcp who really work well with each other. And I also have an SCS.
