My Version of Lupus

Jan 29, 2018

By: Rochelle

Year Condition Began: 2007

In April of 2007 I hmgave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Less than a month later, I found myself in that cold and silently loud doctors office. I presented two symptoms, hair loss and back pain. I was handed two RX papers with what seemed like a million different blood tests.

I head back in to hear my results. "Normal." As confuesld as I was, my GP handed me yet another sheet with the ANA lot of tests. Fast forward to November. I was reffered to a rheumatologist. Lets not put all our eggs in one basket, right?

"Before I say this, please make sure your partner hears what I say after my first words." My anxiety ridden response, "Okay?" She then stated what us butterflies hear as bittersweet news, "You have Systemic Erythematosus Lupus." I was thinking, "I have a what? How do I plan, what do I do? What medications, what's my prognosis?"

In April of 2012 I was idly shopping. Everything went black. I woke up on a cold bathroom floor. I go to wash my hands and the scary crap happened again! I was walking out if the restroom and blacked out, one last time for this instance. No ome helped me. They just stared like I was a two headed monster. I get home, call my on call doc.. "Get to the hospital, something is up." Well, duh?

Sitting on a gurney, ED doctor comes in, "You had seizures." I was thinking, "I am adopted, anything is possible?" I was transferred to a main hospital where five days of an EEG, EKGs, CT's, US's etc.. The second to last day, neurologist swings in and swiftly leaves after stating, "You have Epilepsy." Not a another word other than agreeing that's what he said. So the rigormor of finding a medication starts.

I was in a nursing home for two weeks after this. The depression in a place like that is daunting. How could anyone heal in a place of emotional turmoil? Anyway, doctors came to an aggreance , "It's environmental." Sent home with medications and told to remove myself from said personal situations.

I have SLE, PCOS, Endometriosis, Hypothyroidism, Neuropathy, Lupis induced epilepsy, Osteoarthritis, Fibromyalgia amd now needing to be seen for dicoid and CNS lupus. This pretry much sums it up.

Love, peace and chicken grease!
