I was diagnosed in 2010 with a MPT in only my left breast 8 cm or 3 clustered together equaling 8 cm with a spindle cell sarcoma in it. I went to Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York
My breast surgeon thankfully was very knowledgeable. A fine needle core biopsy was done first to confirm what it was. After them detecting it from a Mammogram and sono
Then followed by a breast MRI and they initially did a pet scan to make sure it was nowhere else. Thankfully not. So my first surgery was a mastectomy of the left breast. For three months I had to leave things alone to make sure nothing was growing back. Then I went for my second surgery to put in a expander. Went for weeks and weeks to expand. Then went for my third surgery and that was when I decided to do my right breast and have a Mastectomy because in between they check the right one again and they were very ugly calcifications and they did a biopsy but were not cancer but I didn't want to take any chances. So at that point when they did the other Mastectomy they then put in the expander in that one and I expanded for weeks again. So for my fourth surgery I had them exchange the expanders for implants. Months later I had nipple reconstruction which is unbelievable. I had a busy two years nonstop.
And my plastic surgeon was awesome and my breast surgeon. Thankfully it's eight years and I try to move on with my life.
