Stargardts

I was diagnosed with stargardts 3 years ago at the age of 18.
Being told i am losing my vision was the hardest thing to take in. I had been noticing vision changes since my last year at school but the opticians blamed blurriness on hormones. I learnt to drive and began my career as a dental nurse,a year after passing my driving test i started to struggle seeing road signs. After a few trips to the opticians they finally referred me to the hospital where after many tests i was diagnosed with stargardts. Since that day my life changed so much..i was no longer allowed to drive. And my career ended alot sooner than id hoped.
3 years on and i am still finding it difficult to accept but am adapting my life to be able to work around my eyes.
I count myself very lucky most of the time as i know there are people alot worse off than us.
Positive thinking helps us to manage this condition and reaching out to talk to other people woth this condition has really helped me.
It terrifies me to think about how my vision could be in the years to come. But deep down I know it will all be ok. We just have to let this condition take its course and adapt as we go along. It will never be easy but we will grow to be stronger.
I would like to meet more people with stargardts to share stories and feel less alone
