My Story

Apr 23, 2022

I found a lump in my left breasts December 2020 and really didn’t think anything of it. I thought that maybe it was a random infection and it would go away on its own. It grew from the size of a golf ball to a softball in 5 months. I knew something wasn’t right so I finally went to the doctor. I had a giant malignant Phyllodes tumor that measured 12cm after my mastectomy on 6/1/21. 6 months later in November I had a preventative mastectomy of the right breasts, because I have a variant of unknown significance on my BRCA1 gene. The doctors agreed with me to do a mastectomy as a precaution. 3 months later in February a new nodule measuring about 12mm had developed in the lower part of my right lung. After having a wedge resection done of that nodule on 3/4/22, it was confirmed that the MPT had become metastatic. A little over a month and a half after surgery, yet another nodule has appeared. As of now, 4/23/22, I’m currently waiting for results of genomic sequencing of that module removed from my lung to see if there isn’t a better approach to chemo.
